Dear bloggers
We have just had a Microbiology division meeting in our department and safety was discussed again. I am the head of our laboratory safety committee and I was thinking how we can communicate safety better and in a more interactive way to our staff. Laboratory safety can be a very boring topic at best! At the moment we just e-mail the minutes of our meetings to the staff. I am exploring the possiblity of a Safety SMS "tip of the week" training and informing service. Any opinions on this?

This is great news - and in general I think I good idea for a project.
ReplyDeleteIt is small enough in nature to properly plan and execute. It has a learning aspect to it, and is linked to medical training/ education (more broadly of course). Furthermore it involves a few technologies that can work together nicely to create a more meaningful safety interaction and ethos.
I can see how one can make safety in the lab a lot of fun. Maybe source some Labsafety cartoons or something. Publish one of the cartoons with every blog post, so that people go to the blog just to see the cartoon (O, and also read the safety tip). You could have quizes, people could win prizes, ... But now I am getting carried away.
