2nd arm of bugsy's project in on its way

Dear bloggers

With the help of JP, I have now applied to the US for a sun.blog. My blog will be part of my project to teach, train, inform and sometimes intertane our laboratory staff about laboratory safety. I asked our technologists if they could think of a name for our Safety blog, but in the spirit of the Tour de France I am going to call the blog: "Team Safety". I await now for the response from Webstudies.

  1. Hi bugsy
I have been following the adventures of this interesting microbe with ongoing interest :-) With every blog posting, you seem one step closer to completing your e-learning intervention - well done.
I fully approve of your blog name and suddenly have visions of a cycling team all clad in white coats and lab goggles...hehehe.
I've been thinking about the scope of your blog and have a few ideas for you. One of my responsibilities at work is the coordination of a Hospital Event Management System designed for the reporting of near misses (harm that was prevented from happening) and adverse events (actual harm). There is good evidence that reporting near misses helps to establish a culture of safety. Perhaps the bloggers could be encouraged to blog about a "near miss" that they experienced? Not only can it become a network for highlighting safety issues, but it can also provide you with the necessary info to put certain systems in place that may be lacking.

  2. Thank you Worst Case Scenari-Yo! You have hit the nail on the head, in a very safe way. We already have a reporting system in the lab where we must report "near-injuries". But I am very sure this is very unreported. Hopefully the "teamsafety" blog will encourage the staff to report more of these events.
